Lee Johnson has revealed that the side only trained with 12 players yesterday as injury and illness appears to still be having an effect on the side.

The Robins gaffer was forced into four changes at the weekend as he had to make do with a squad that had been struggling with various issues throughout the week.

BristolLive were reporting from Johnson's pre-match press conference ahead of the weekend where he said (15:28): "Yesterday we only trained with 12.

"There was a few additions to our list however I do expect that to quickly turn and hopefully we’ll be training with nigh on fully fit 20 come Friday."

Striker Famara Diedhiou was just a substitute for the trip to Leeds United because of the forward catching the flu and not even being deemed well enough to take part in the warm-up however he came on for the final 30 minutes.

January signing Filip Benkovic picked up a calf strain in training last week and was demoted to the bench for the journey to Elland Road.

Midfielder Korey Smith was a notable absentee in the last game as he limped off during the 3-2 win over Derby County last week.

Striker Andreas Weimann started the game at Leeds despite falling ill overnight. He was substituted off after 30 minutes because of the illness.

The Verdict

Johnson will be hoping that his side gets over the injury and illness that has recently taken over the well-being of his squad.

The game against West Brom this weekend is bound to be a tough one no matter which Bristol City players are handed a start but with a squad that could be depleted makes Johnson's task of getting the three points even harder.
