Bristol City will be looking to start 2019 as they left off in 2018, with a trip to Stoke City on the horizon.

The Robins started off the season in terrible fashion, winning only four of their first twelve Championship games, with the pressure mounting on manager Lee Johnson.

But City have since picked up, and after a run of seven games without a defeat, Johnson's men now sit 11th in the Sky Bet Championship table, just seven points off the play-off places.

A big push is needed in 2019 if City are still set on securing a play-off place in their bid for promotion to the Premier League, and with the January transfer window now upon us, Johnson will need to clear the deadwood and bring in fresh faces, that will ignite that push.

Here, we take a look at two Bristol City players that Johnson needs to axe in the next two weeks...

It's fair to say that Mo Eisa's time at Bristol City hasn't gone as he would have liked since his arrival in the summer.

After scoring 25 goals in 50 games for Cheltenham Town last season, in what was his debut season in the EFL, Eisa moved to Ashton Gate with high expectations placed on the 24-year old.

Since then, however, the forward has made only one start for the Robins, and has featured in the development squad on more than one occasion.

Eisa needs some regular game-time, and whether it's a loan move or permanent move in January, it needs to happen.

Weimann started off the season in magnificent form, scoring five goals in the first six games of the season.

The 27-year old has since failed to find the net in 19 games for the Robins, and has fallen out of favour with Johnson,

He isn't really offering anything close to what he once was, and Johnson should look to move him on and bring someone else in who can ignite a late promotion push this season.
