Sunderland boss Lee Johnson is reportedly weighing up sanctioning a loan exit for Jack Diamond as he bids to put the final touches to his squad in the final week or so of this current transfer window.

The Black Cats have had a decent start to proceedings this season in Sky Bet League One with them winning three of their opening four matches to get themselves into the early top six.

Of course, there's a long way to go but a good start is always important and Johnson will be eager to see that maintained in the weeks ahead.

In terms of his squad, though, there could still be some tweaks he looks to make with the Sunderland Echo reporting that the boss of the Wearsiders is weighing up sanctioning a loan exit for Jack Diamond, to allow him to try and get more first-team football this season.

The Verdict

Diamond has been limited in terms of opportunities to feature for the Black Cats this season and a loan move away could well be the best thing for him.

He has good ability and lots of room to improve further but that will only happen if he is exposed to senior football at a good level.

We'll have to see, then, if he does leave on loan and, indeed, where he ends up because of that.
