Championship football resumes after a weekend off to accommodate the final round of international fixtures of the calendar year.

Bristol City head to Elland Road to take on a Leeds United side who could go back to the top of the division, should results go their way on the weekend.

And ahead of the clash, Lee Johnson delivered his honest opinion on the Whites’ head coach.

Th Robins’ boss, who sees his side currently six points off the pay-offs and down in 13th position revealed that he feels that Marcelo Bielsa is “one of the best in the business,” according to Bristol Live.

"Obviously Bielsa is a top coach, one of the best in the business," Johnson told the publication. "It will be good to test ourselves against that.

Bristol City have lost their last three matches and have had a fortnight to figure out what has gone wrong ahead of a trip north on Saturday afternoon.

As well as having his say on the head coach, Johnson discussed his side’s opponents ahead of their Championship tussle on Saturday.

"Leeds are a good side who have some strengths but they also have some weaknesses as we saw in the last game against West Brom. We'll focus on us," he explained.

"Going to Elland Road, it's a great place to play football with a great atmosphere, full house, and a lovely pitch.

"The lads are desperate to put a performance in for the 700 or so fans who will be supporting the lads.

“Hopefully, they will be nice and loud to encourage the lads, and the lads will be desperate to put in a performance.”

The verdict

Kind words indeed by Lee Johnson, if not interesting.

But the reality is, his assessment of Leeds is spot on, and he is just being truthful ahead of what is an important match for both sides.

If they lose and results go against them, the Robins could be just three points outside the bottom three heading into the midweek round of games.

They were undoubtedly interesting comments ahead of what is set to be a tense clash between the two sides.

Leeds certainly have their weaknesses having picked up a few injuries as of late, and now could be the perfect time to play Marcelo Bielsa's side.
