Lee Johnson has revealed his thoughts on Leeds United right-back Luke Ayling after he pushed the Whites skipper away from an on-pitch team talk during Bristol City's game at the weekend.

Johnson gathered his players in for a team talk at the weekend while there was a stoppage in play and footage has shown Johnson pushing Ayling away as the opposition defender attempted to listen in by hiding behind the Robins players.

Footage could then be seen of the Leeds skipper walking away with a smile on his face.

The question was asked during Johnson's pre-match press conference ahead of the West Brom clash, where he said (15:24): "I like Luke Ayling, he’s a great lad. He’s done really well and was probably the main man in that game. Probably an example that none of the other lads did it, I certainly would’ve done it as a player."

The right-back played a vital role in the match as he fired in from six yards following pinball in the Bristol City box during the first half.

He used to feature for Bristol City, signing for the club in the summer of 2014.

The defender helped the Robins win the League One title in 2015 and continued to be a regular during the 2015-2016 season, even after Johnson took over the Robins in February 2016.

Ayling signed for Leeds in the summer of 2016 and has been a mainstay in their side since.

The Verdict

The incident between Johnson and Ayling was likely just light-hearted banter between the defender and his former manager.

Johnson still wouldn't have wanted the defender to listen in on whatever he was telling his players and he has made it clear to the media what his exact thoughts are on the scenario.
