Aston Villa will head into their last two fixtures the team in form in the Sky Bet Championship, with ten successive wins under their belts.

The Villans have been in fine form and play both Leeds and Aston Villa in their final two games, games which will be a big test of just how far they have come under Dean Smith.

There have been plenty of fine performances for the Villans over the course of the season, none more so than striker Tammy Abraham, who has blasted in the goals to once again prove he is far and away good enough for a shot at Premier League football.

And former Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie believes that signing Abraham on a permanent deal has to be a priority for the club - if they are promoted.

"I think if Aston Villa do go up he has to be their main transfer target in the summer. He fits the formation that Dean Smith plays and I just like his attitude. He’s got so much potential.” Hendried told the Noel Whelan show on BBC Radio Leeds, via a report from This is Futbol.

Hendrie was a mainstay of the Villa squad for a number of years in the Premier League and knows exactly the sort of talent and mindset it takes to succeed in the top flight.

The former England man touched on the fact that Wolves were 'desperate' to sign Abraham in January, only for the Chelsea man to stay put at Villa Park and fire in the goals to help his side into the top six.

The Verdict

It's a no brainer really for the club to go for Abraham again, but just how many other clubs will be sniffing around him?

He's a top class striker, and his time is surely here to prove himself in the Premier League.

Of course, he is settled at Villa, and if they are willing to stump up the cash to sign the England man, then it might just prove to be money well spent in the long-term.
