Lee Gregory shares message as he looks ahead to Sheffield Wednesday’s clash with Wycombe

Sheffield Wednesday forward Lee Gregory has taken to Instagram to share a message with the club’s supporters ahead of this weekend’s showdown with Wycombe Wanderers.

After briefly slipping out of the play-off places earlier this week, the Owls moved up to fourth in the League One standings on Tuesday as a result of their triumph over Crewe Alexandra.

Gregory scored what turned out to be the winning goal at Hillsborough in this particular fixture.

The forward slotted home the penalty spot after Nathaniel Mendez-Laing was tripped in the area by Scott Kashket.

Although Wednesday’s main priority between now and the end of the season will be to secure a spot in the play-offs, they do have an outside chance of securing automatic promotion to the Championship.

Currently four points adrift of Rotherham United who occupy second place in the league standings, the Owls will close this gap if they beat Wycombe on Saturday and Paul Warne’s side slip up in their meeting with Oxford United.

Gregory has decided to look ahead to his side’s showdown with the Chairboys by sharing a message on Instagram.

The Verdict

Wednesday will be extremely confident in their ability to pick up a positive result at Adams Park this weekend as they have only lost two of their previous 17 games in the third-tier.

Having scored in four of his last five appearances for the Owls, Gregory will unquestionably fancy his chances of adding to his overall goal-tally in the club’s meeting with Wycombe.

Currently averaging a respectable WhoScored match rating of 6.91 in League One, the forward’s ability to maintain his fitness as well his consistency could prove to be key as Wednesday look to secure an immediate return to the Championship.

Even if Darren Moore’s side miss out on a top-two finish this month, they will be a force to be reckoned with in the play-offs as they are able to call upon the services of some classy operators who have produced a host of impressive displays at this level.
