Sheffield Wednesday forward Lee Gregory has taken to Instagram to congratulate his team-mates Josh Windass and Olamide Shodipo for their goals in the club's clash with Wycombe Wanderers.

The Owls were forced to settle for a point at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Wycombe opened the scoring in the 23rd minute as Anis Mehmeti netted his third league goal of the season.

Wednesday then levelled proceedings on the stroke of half-time as Gregory teed up Shodipo who fired past goalkeeper David Stockdale.

Following the break, Windass gave the Owls the lead before Jordan Obita netted an equaliser for the visitors in the 65th minute.

Currently seventh in the League One standings, the Owls will be aiming to get back to winning ways in this division  when they face Portsmouth on December 7th.

Reflecting on his side's latest performance on Instagram, Gregory has admitted that he believes that Wednesday are getting stronger whilst he also congratulated Windass and Shodipo for their strikes.

The forward posted: "Tough game yesterday [Saturday].

"But we are getting stronger every game.

"A point on the board and we keep moving.

"Well done @mide.sho on ur first [goal] and @windassjnr."

The Verdict

Whilst Gregory was unable to add to the seven league goals that he has scored for Wednesday this season in Saturday's fixture, he still managed to produce an assured performance against Wycombe as he provided an assist for Shodipo at Hillsborough.

Currently averaging a respectable WhoScored match rating of 6.89 in the third-tier, the forward will be determined to help his side push on in League One over the Christmas period.

Following a relatively inconsistent start to the 2021/22 campaign, the Owls have recently managed to show glimpses of promise as they have been bolstered by the return of Windass.

Providing that Windass, who has scored in both of his appearances for Wednesday this season, and Gregory are able to deliver the goods in the coming weeks, Moore's side could potentially close the gap between them and the  automatic promotion places in the third-tier.
