Lee Gregory has admitted he has told Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore he is unhappy about his game time at Hillsborough.

Last season saw the striker emerge as a key figure for the Owls, scoring 17 goals and providing five assists in 37 league and play-off games, as they missed out on promotion after defeat to Sunderland in the semi finals.

However, while he has managed another 17 league outings and four goals this season, he has started just 11 games, the last of which came towards the end of October.

Now it seems as though the 34-year-old has indeed made his feelings about his dip in game time known to Moore.

Asked about his wait for opportunities in recent weeks, Gregory told The Sheffield Star: “I’ll be honest, I’m not happy when I’m not starting and I’ve expressed that to the gaffer as well.

"At the end of the day, this is our job, so I tell the gaffer I’m not happy with his decision and then I move on and try to come on to contribute.

"That’s just the way I am. I want to start and play every game and unfortunately I’m not. I just need to work hard, get my head down and carry on.
“I want to play every game. I’m not unfit, I’m as fit as I ever was, so I don’t look at my age like that. “I can manage myself now, I’m experienced and I can manage myself away from the training ground and everything else.” However, it seems the striker is keen not to cause an issue behind the scenes at the club, as he added: “Listen, we’re not falling out and arguing or anything. We’ve just had talks about the fact I’m not happy when I’m not starting. “It’s a long season and everyone has to contribute. It’s like that, there’s no big argument and I’m not unhappy with the club, but I want to be starting. “Once we’ve had that conversation it’s done, under the carpet and you crack on with the games. It happens with everyone. This isn’t me causing any drama or anything, it’s just the way it is.” As things stand, Gregory's contract with Sheffield Wednesday is set to expire at the end of this season. The Verdict You can understand why Gregory may be frustrated about his lack of game time in the past few weeks. The striker was a key player for Wednesday in helping them to the play-offs last season, so he no doubt feels he has done nothing to deserve to be dropped from the starting XI. Indeed, at 34-years-old, Gregory may not have a long time remaining in his career, so he is going to want to be playing as much as possible, while he is still able to do so. But following the additions of Mallik Wilks and Michael Smith in the summer transfer window, Moore does have more options to choose from upfront, so it is perhaps inevitable that Gregory is going to face more competition for game time.
