Lee Bowyer has settled in to life as a manager fairly well after being appointed permanent manager in September 2018 following a period as caretaker manager, and he is now being linked with a move to another side in the division.

Bowyer is reportedly being eyed up by Cardiff City as their future manager following the resignation of experienced manager Neil Warnock, however jumping ship would be the wrong move for Bowyer at this moment in time.

The Addicks manager is currently building a good project at Charlton after a year and a half. Having achieved promotion through the League One play-offs during his first full season in charge and now Charlton will be hoping that the Bluebirds don't come calling for their manager anytime soon.

There wouldn't be too much point in Bowyer jumping ship to a side that is currently lower in the division than his current Charlton side, despite more finances and better facilities available.

Cardiff look like they could now be targeting a manager with a different philosophy to what they have used in the past, a style of football that gets the ball on the ground, keeps possession and is exciting to watch.

A few Cardiff supporters were growing in disagreement about the style of play that Warnock was playing during his final days at The Cardiff City Stadium, with no real attacking threat and a style which played into the opposition's hands at times.

Bowyer moving to The Cardiff City Stadium would mean that he would need to get the players singing off the same hymn sheet as him, and he wouldn't have long to get the Bluebirds playing his style of football before the next Championship game despite it still being the international break.

The 42-year-old is an excellent manager who is tactically astute and knows what he is doing in terms of getting results, the one thing that matters in football management, with a bright future in the game as a manager and he will need to take risks if he wants to rise to the top.

However, jumping ship at this moment in time for Bowyer would be a risk that isn't worth taking as it may not work out for him while at Cardiff, and he would then have to go back to the drawing board if things didn't go the way he wanted in Wales.

Bowyer should see things out with Charlton, as this is just the beginning of his project, and the Addicks side has the potential to go far under their young manager.
