Charlton manager Lee Bowyer has stated that Lyle Taylor won't be ready for the Millwall game next Saturday after suffering an injury setback.

Taylor has been injured since September when he suffered a knee issue whilst away on international duty with Monserrat.

The striker had been in fine form for the Addicks, and many supporters were worried about how the club's results would suffer without the forward.

In truth, they haven't been bad at all, and have recorded crucial victories over sides such as Leeds and Derby whilst picking up draws at West Brom and Fulham.

Bowyer has confirmed that Taylor will not be ready for the Millwall game, which is another injury blow to this Charlton side.

Speaking to London News Online, Bowyer said: “Lyle it not fit.

“We were hoping Lyle was going to be ready for this weekend but he had a little bit of a setback. He won’t be ready for Millwall.

“Getting other bodies back, I don’t think so. Most of them have been long-term ones, Jonny (Williams), Lyle, Sam (Field), Ben (Amos), Jake (Forster-Caskey), they’re all long ones.”

The Verdict

Taylor had such a good start to the season, and I think Charlton have missed him at times, especially when they've been dominant in different periods of games.

Macauley Bonne has stepped up well, but they need more and he could become even better with Taylor up playing beside him.

The Addicks will be hoping that Taylor can return soon after the Millwall game, and help carry on Charlton's superb start to life in the Championship.
