Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has given a fitness update on his squad ahead of their League One play-off semi-final against Doncaster Rovers on Sunday.

He revealed that he hopes midfielder Jonny Williams would be involved and that Igor Vetokele remains their only confirmed absentee for the trip to the Keepmoat.

“Jonny Williams passed a fitness test yesterday, so we’re hoping he’ll be involved," Bowyer told the club's official Twitter account.

"Igor is still struggling, but we’re unsure when he will be ready at the moment.”

Charlton leapt above both Sunderland and Portsmouth on the final day of the season with a 3-0 win against Rochdale whilst Grant McCann's Donny secured the final spot on the same day.

Lee Bowyer's Addicks finished 15 points better off in the league season and go into the clash as convincing favourites. But this is the play-offs and anything can and will happen.

Kick-off for the first leg is at 12:15 on Sunday whilst the other League One clash between the Black Cats and Pompey takes place on Saturday evening.

The Verdict

This is brilliant news for Charlton.

They have been in great form recently but Williams possesses that extra bit of magic that is frankly a class above League One level.

Even if he does not start, it is a valuable weapon to have available to you in the latter stages of the match.
