Birmingham City boss Lee Bowyer has revealed that he is trying to bring in two new players before Tuesday's transfer deadline.

The former player has had a very busy summer as Blues boss as he embarks on his first full season in charge of the club, with a host of new additions making an impact in what has been a promising start to the season.

However, Bowyer still wants more, as he explained to Sky Sports, as quoted by Birmingham Live, that he will be working to finalise up to two more deals in the coming days.

"Hopefully, fingers crossed, we can maybe try and nick one or two more additions to try and strengthen us a little bit more. But it’s a tough market and we’ll see what happens from now until the end."

Blues fell to defeat in the League Cup against Fulham at St. Andrew's last night but they will be back in league action when they make the trip to take on Barnsley this weekend.

The verdict

This is encouraging news for Birmingham fans as whilst they have had a very positive start, picking up two impressive away wins in particular, they are still one or two short.

Many fans would love another forward through the door, and that will surely be the priority for Bowyer before the deadline, if it's possible.

So, it could be a very interesting end to the window and when you look at the business Blues have done so far this window, the fans should trust that Bowyer will get it right.
