Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has given his verdict on the PFA League One Team of the Season, calling it "a load of rubbish" after none of his players were named in the side.

The PFA Team of the Season for League One was announced earlier this week and was dominated by the clubs challenging for promotion.

Luton Town and Portsmouth both had two players named in the XI, while Sunderland and Doncaster Rovers both had one player make the side.

The team was dominated by Barnsley, who had no fewer than five players named in the team, four outfield players and goalkeeper Adam Davies.

Meanwhile Charlton, despite having a number of players who have had outstanding seasons, missed out on the team all together and did not have any players named in the side.

Addicks boss Bowyer was speaking to the media ahead of the his side's League One clash with Gillingham on Saturday and gave his verdict on the team of the season.

Charlton are currently fifth in the League One table and are guaranteed to finish the season in the play-off places, as they did last season.

The team are only four points behind third-placed Portsmouth, although Pompey and fourth-places Sunderland both have a game in hand on the Addicks.

The Verdict:

Bowyer has a point, Charlton have a few players who have been outstanding this season, including striker Lyle Taylor.

The Charlton boss won't care too much about the team of the season though and will be firmly focused on helping his side win promotion.

It's still all to play four in League One and Charlton will be hoping to win their final two matches to ensure they can finish either third or four in the table, to guarantee they would play the second leg of their play-off semi-final at home.
