Birmingham City boss Lee Bowyer has told Birmingham Live that he sees Maxime Colin as one of the best right backs in the Sky Bet Championship.
The Frenchman has been a regular for the Blues so far this season and has largely operated as a more attacking right wing back as part of Bowyer’s favoured three at the back system.
This role has allowed Colin to get forward to great effect and track back to help his other defensive colleagues when required during a match.
However despite seeing his side lose 3-0 to Peterborough United at the weekend, Bowyer was quick to reserve praise for the 29-year-old defender as he stated the following in the wake of the defeat:
“He (Peterborough’s Siriki Dembele) was playing against one of the best right backs in the league.

“On another day my right back I believe will take care of Dembele because I have one of the best right backs and Dembele is a good player.”
Colin has been with the Blues since joining the club from Brentford in the summer of 2017 and has since gone on to become a key player at St Andrew’s, racking up an impressive total of 179 appearances in a blue shirt.
Are these 22 Birmingham City stats real or fake?
Meanwhile Birmingham City will be back in action on Saturday as they play host to Preston North End.
Colin has been in fine form for the Blues this term and many will feel that this recent slump in form for the team is just a temporary blip.
Birmingham have started the campaign pretty positively and it will inevitably take a bit of time for some of the new players to gel with the existing squad.
The formation that the club have used this term allows them to be far more expansive and there have been several examples of when it has worked to great effect.
If the club can bounce back with a win over Preston at the weekend, there will be a lot more less worried people around on the blue side of the city.
