Lee Bowyer has indicated that he has not finished his transfer business this summer, with less than a week to go before the window slams shut, whilst speaking to Birmingham Live.

The Blues, who will be brimming with confidence after Saturday's emphatic 5-0 win away at Luton Town, sit just outside the play-off positions in eighth place, picking up seven points from their opening four games.

Bowyer's side travel to Barnsley this weekend in pursuit of continuing their excellent form away from home this season but will face stiff competition from The Tykes who will be hoping to mount another promotion push this year.

Eight new signings have arrived at St Andrew's this summer, as Bowyer intends to push on from long-term mediocrity at the Midlands club.

However, when speaking to Birmingham Live, the former Charlton Athletic boss outlined that he is still trying to complete a couple of deals ahead of next Tuesday: "We lost a few in the summer and replaced them. The additions we've brought in have been good, so I think we’ve got some good deals over the line.

"Hopefully, fingers crossed, we can maybe try and nick one or two more additions to try and strengthen us a little bit more.

"But it’s a tough market and we’ll see what happens from now until the end."

The verdict

Birmingham have strengthened in positions that they have really needed to strengthen, whilst they have also added some quality players who will certainly help the club win matches during tight affairs this season.

Bowyer now has a strong Championship squad at his disposal, and if the season started tomorrow, then he would still be rather happy.

However, adding a couple more player to increase competition levels is what he desires, and if they are able to complete a couple of deals before Tuesday's deadline, then Birmingham have every chance of having a successful season.
