Lee Bowyer has paid tribute to Charlton Athletic fans ahead of his side's second leg clash with Doncaster Rovers on Friday evening.

The Addicks faithful travelled in their numbers to back their side on Sunday afternoon, where goals from Lyle Taylor and Joe Aribo ensured that Bowyer's side would take a 2-1 advantage into the reverse fixture.

And the Charlton faithful are set to back their team even more this time around, with the Valley set to be sold out for the second leg of the play-off semi-final later on this week.

Speaking about the support ahead of Friday night's clash, Bowyer paid tribute to Charlton fans for their continued backing, as his side look to reward them with a trip to Wembley.

The London club will definitely fancy their chances of advancing through to the final, boasting a hugely impressive home record going into Friday.

Bowyer's side have lost just twice at home this season, winning 16 out of 23 games on their home turf.

Doncaster, meanwhile, have won just seven times on the road this term, and will be looking to defy the odds and come from a goal behind to win this week.

The Verdict

You have got to give credit to Charlton fans - they have been through some tough times in recent years, and life off the pitch is still far from tranquil.

But, they will back to their team to the death later on this week, and will hope to see their side record their most important win of the season at the Valley.

This is testament to Lee Bowyer, who has been a huge success since taking the reins of the club.
