Lee Bowyer is set for sit down talks with Charlton's hierarchy this week as they attempt to thrash out his immediate Addicks future.

The former Leeds midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and thus far, only a 'different' type of offer has been put on the table.

He's been mentioned as a possible replacement for Steve McClaren at Queens Park Rangers, intensifying the need for Charlton to make a move sooner, rather than later.

Bowyer has done a remarkable job this season, the Addicks are still in the automatic promotion hunt and are virtually assured their place in the play-offs.

Bowyer told the South London Press that he's told Lieven De Turck that he wants a face to face meeting to thrash out his future.

“I’ve just gone back to Lieven, who is dealing with it, and said: ‘Can we just have a meeting," he confirmed. “He has given me a couple of dates and we’ll go through that. It’s better to do it face to face, it’s easier.”

Bowyer has been in charge at the Valley little over a year, but took them from outside the top six to a play-off semi-final last season and is hoping to go one better this time out.

The Verdict

This is a ridiculous situation.

How are they not moving heaven and earth to keep Bowyer in place? His achievements have been remarkable, especially when you consider the turmoil he has dealt with off the field.

He's one of the best up and coming managers in the game and they're offering him incentive based contracts over email. if they're not careful, he'll be gone.
