Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has insisted that the EFL are "talking rubbish" after the recent announcement of the EFL League One Team of the Season.

The Addicks have endured another hugely impressive campaign this term, having already confirmed their place in the League One play-offs with four games left to play this season.

But the EFL, when revealing their Team of the Season last month, failed to include any Charlton players in the prestigious line-up, with the likes of Lyle Taylor, Joe Aribo and Jason Pearce all being overlooked.

And speaking ahead of his side's trip to Oxford United on Good Friday, Bowyer let out his frustrations after his players' recent omissions, insisting that the decision to award a team of the season is a "waste of time".

Charlton have had several standout performers this season, with the likes of Lyle Taylor now the fourth highest goalscorer in the league after his brace against Luton Town last time out.

Karlan Grant also endured a remarkable first-half of the season at the Valley, but was overlooked after moving to Premier League side Huddersfield Town in January.

Charlton occupy 5th spot in the League One standings, ahead of clashes against Oxford and Scunthorpe over a hectic Easter period.

The Verdict

I firmly agree with this Bowyer on this one, I thought Charlton should have had at least one player in the team, but does it really matter?

The likes of Tom Eaves and James Collins have all been exceptional for their respective teams, and you can't really argue over who has been chosen as they clearly all deserve it.

But what really matters is doing well on the pitch, and if the Addicks go on to win promotion, then who really cares?
