Charlton Athletic Lee Bowyer has confirmed that himself and Director of Football Steve Gallen have been working hard to put together a list of targets for January.

During Bowyer's press conference ahead of their test against Preston North End this weekend, the 43-year-old revealed that Charlton are also attempting to bring other players into the squad.

The Addicks are prioritising the signing of Peterborough United attacking midfielder Marcus Maddison, however the 26-year-old has currently stalled in contract talks with the club as they look to get the deal wrapped up.

Charlton have also been linked with a loan move for Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty, but it looks like he would prefer a move to League One side Sunderland until the end of the season.

Bowyer and Gallen have also been dealt a blow in the last few days, with the news that Conor Gallagher had been recalled from his loan by Chelsea before being loaned out to another Championship side in Swansea.

However, it looks like central midfielder Josh Cullen is set to stay with Charlton on loan from West Ham United for the rest of the season after the recall clause in his contract has expired.

The Verdict

Just like every other manager in football, Bowyer and Gallen will have a list of five or six targets for the position that they will want to improve.

The Addicks coaching staff, board and recruitment team will be confident that they are able to secure some of their targets that they are chasing, and will be looking to overcome any setbacks that they may receive.
