Lee Bowyer is hopeful that midfielder Joe Aribo will sign a new contract at Charlton Athletic after the club secured promotion to the Championship following their dramatic play-off final victory over Sunderland.
Aribo, who is out of contract at The Valley in the summer, has been linked by The Sun to the likes of Aston Villa, Celtic and Rangers ahead of the summer transfer window, but staying with Charlton can’t be ruled out after they made a return to the second-tier.

Speaking at his post-match press conference at Wembley, attended by FLW, the manager admitted he was ‘hoping’ that the 23-year-old would decide to stay as he looks to build a squad capable of competing in the Championship.
However, it will still be a tough ask to convince him to stay when you consider the size of the clubs tracking him.
Aribo has enjoyed an outstanding individual campaign for the Londoners, establishing himself as a key player from midfield, where he scored ten goals on the road to Wembley before starring against the Black Cats too.
This may still be a difficult deal for Charlton to complete.
Whilst The Addicks have secured a place in the Championship, Villa may be able to offer top-flight football and the Glasgow giants are huge clubs who will be playing in Europe.
Therefore, it’s going to be a big task for Charlton to keep their star man but promotion has given them a chance that they probably didn’t think they’d have.
