Lee Bowyer expects to Charlton to be busy in the remaining hours of the transfer window - and admitted that he wants to sign another midfielder and striker before Friday's 5pm deadline.

Since their relegation from the Championship, the Addicks boss has added no fewer than 12 loan and permanent additions as he looks to build a strong enough squad to compete at the right end of the League One table.

Bowyer has already strengthened his defensive department this week with the signing of free transfer Chris Gunter, whilst Ryan Inniss and Ian Maatsen have joined from London rivals Chelsea and Crystal Palace respectively - the latter a loan deal.

Charlton have also added to Omar Bogle to their striking ranks but the Addicks boss still wants another forward in before Friday, along with another midfielder.

"I'm expecting two or three to come in, probably two," Bowyer told South London Press. "That last one will just be a bonus. I definitely want a striker and another midfielder."

Meanwhile, Bowyer was asked about the future of goalkeeper Dillon Phillips, and expects the goalkeeper to remain at The Valley despite not being involved since the final day defeat at Leeds United.

He said: "I honestly can't see Alfie or Dillon going."

The Verdict

Given their recent business, it's shaping up to be an impressive window for Charlton.

Despite their poor start to the campaign results wise, they remain one of the favourites for promotion and another couple of solid additions in the coming days will put them in good stead to fight for that.
