League Two transfer round-up: Plymouth continue Bury raid, Swindon seal deal for Arsenal man

There are just over four weeks until the beginning of the 2019/20 EFL campaign, with pre-season training underway for clubs across the footballing pyramid.

After the race for promotion, the play-offs and the fight to avoid relegation all went down to the final day last season, League Two is shaping up to be a hugely competitive division next term.

Here, we take a look at all the transfer news and rumours that have materialised over the last day or two…

Plymouth sign Aimson

Plymouth have completed the signing of another Bury player, as Ryan Lowe continues to raid his former club this summer.

Will Aimson arrived at Home Park from Gigg Lane, after playing an integral role in their promotion to League One last term.

The ball-playing centre-half has endured spells with Blackpool and Hull City, but now makes the long move down south to Argyle.

Defender opts against Plymouth trial

Former Brighton defender Ben Barclay has opted against having a trial with Argyle.

The defender spent the second half of last season on loan with Notts County, who were relegated to the National League after a bitterly disappointing campaign.

But the defender, who was born in Manchester, has opted against a move to Home Park, having signed a contract elsewhere, as per the Plymouth Herald.

Stevenage add three new faces

Stevenage were the busiest club in League Two on Tuesday, with manager Dino Maamria bringing in three new faces.

Charlie Carter, Paul Digby and Chris Stokes all arrived from Chesterfield, Forest Green and Bury respectively, as Boro look to ignite a push for the play-offs next season.

The club also revealed their new kits for the forthcoming campaign, with both strips sponsored by popular fast-food chain Burger King.

Arsenal man moves to Swindon

Swindon Town have completed the signing of Arsenal defender Daniel Ballard on a season-long loan deal.

The 19-year-old has been a hugely impressive figure in the Gunners’ academy side, and was even called up to the Northern Ireland senior squad earlier this year.

The defender becomes Swindon’s seventh signing of the summer, as the Robins look to ignite a push for promotion next term.
