League Two outfit Notts County have clinched the signing of ex-Sunderland striker Jon Stead, the club have confirmed.
County owner Ray Trew has openly stated that he will back Ricardo Moniz in the transfer market this summer and the signing of Stead is as a real coup for a League Two club.
The County boss is eager for his strikers to score 60 goals between them next season with Stead being identified as the first of two or three strikers to come into the club.
Stead was released by Huddersfield Town back in May but he did enjoy a remarkable spell on loan with Bradford City last season.
He scored one and set a further two up as City shocked English football by knocking Chelsea out of the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge back in January.
Bradford reached the quarter-finals of the cup before being knocked out of the competition by Reading.
