Crewe Alexandra have completed the signing of Leicester City midfielder Khanya Leshabela, the League Two club have officially announced.

Having come through the youth ranks at Leicester, Leshabela has made one first-team appearance for the Foxes, as a late substitute in a 5-0 win over Sheffield United in the Premier League in March 2021.

The midfielder then spent the first half of last season on loan in League One with Shrewsbury Town, where he made a total of nine appearances in all competitions.

Now, the 22-year-old has secured another temporary move for the coming months, as he looks to get more first-team football under his belt.

It has been confirmed that Leshabela has joined Crewe on a six-month loan move, meaning he will spent the first half of the 2022/23 campaign with the Gresty Road side.

Leshabela has become Crewe's seventh signing of the summer transfer window, as the club look to bounce back in League Two in the coming campaign, after relegation from League One last season.

The Verdict

This does look as though it has the potential to be a useful signing for all involved here.

Although things haven't quite got going for Leshabela just yet, the fact he has previously been able to earn himself a Premier League appearance for Leicester, does show the potential he possesses.

As a result, you feel that he could be capable of making a rather significant impact in League Two, something he will surely be determined to do, after that Shrewsbury spell did not work out as he would have hoped.

Indeed, the opportunity to get regular game time for Crewe will surely help his development, and it will be intriguing to see what sort of opportunity he is able to earn for the second half of this season, once his initial loan spell at Gresty Road comes to an end.
