Fleetwood Town are in talks with Sheffield United winger Martyn Woolford, according to James Shield of the Sheffield Star.
The former Scunthorpe United and Millwall man has found himself well and truly cast to one side at Bramall Lane by new manager Chris Wilder, who is keen to clear some players off the wage bill.
Woolford was transfer listed upon Wilder’s arrival at the club along with 6 other members of the squad, and has found himself frozen out, with Wilder now confirming Fleetwood are interested in the winger.
Woolford was signed by former manager Nigel Adkins, who brought in the winger having worked with him previously at Scunthorpe. However, Woolford’s form failed to reach the levels that he had shown at the Iron, and he ultimately fell out of favour as the season progressed.
It would not be the first time moves between the Blades and Cod Army had taken place, following on from Bob Harris and Stefan Scougall spending time on loan with the club last season.
Blades fans, is this good news for you? Fleetwood fans, is Woolford the sort of player you need? Let us know your thoughts!
