Portsmouth manager Danny Cowley says he would be keen to re-sign midfielder Harvey White on loan from Tottenham this summer.

White spent the second half of last season on loan at Fratton Park from Spurs, impressing during his time on the south coast.

The 19-year-old made 22 appearances in all competitions for Pompey, scoring once, as the club missed out on a place in the League One play-offs on the final day of the season.

Now it seems as though Cowley would be keen to bring White back for next season, but is aware of the fact that getting such a deal done may not be easy.

Speaking about the prospect of a reunion with White for next season, Cowley was quoted by The Portsmouth News as saying: "Harvey, we love Harvey. He’s a great player and a great kid. We loved working with him. He’s on an upward curve and will get better and better.

"If Tottenham were prepared to let me take him on a permanent we’d be delighted. But I’ve got a feeling, and we’re very respectful of Tottenham who we have a good relationship with, I’ve got a feeling they have big plans for Harvey.
"So I don’t anticipate having the finance to do that, unfortunately. We’d be absolutely open-minded to taking him temporarily again, though." Prior to his move to Portsmouth, White had made two first-team appearances for Tottenham after coming through the youth ranks at the North London club. The Verdict You can't really blame Cowley for being keen to bring White back to Portsmouth this summer. The midfielder was clearly impressive during his first spell at Fratton Park, and his influence could certainly be useful for Portsmouth in their push for promotion to the Championship. Indeed, it could be hard for White to force his way into Tottenham's senior side next season given the size of that step up he would making, so a loan elsewhere could indeed make sense. However, given he has shown he is more than capable of competing in League One, Spurs may now want to see him tested at a higher level in the Championship, which could make things difficult for Pompey if they are to look to bring the teenager back to Fratton Park.
