Steve Gibson's latest comments have certainly sparked a reaction among the Middlesbrough fans.

The Teessiders are on a run of 11 games without a win in all competitions - a stretch which goes back to the New Years Day victory over Preston North End.

As a result Middlesbrough find themselves in the Championship relegation zone with just 11 fixtures to go.

Woodgate has been the subject of criticism from supporters in recent weeks, with many suggesting that a replacement should be brought in to help the club over the line in their battle for survival.

But according to the club chairman, Woodgate will stay in charge 'no matter what happens' as they prepare to continue what they've started.

Speaking to Teesside Live, Gibson said: "Jonathan has my full support. Jonathan is not the problem.

“He is the figurehead of the club and has had to take a lot of criticism for problems which he inherited.

“I can assure fans we are working very hard as a club to deal with those problems. Jonathan has my support no matter what happens. My total support.

“He is dedicated to this football club and has a vision for a style and approach that we all endorse.

“He has had a difficult first season but there is a real talent there. I am convinced of that. Where we are right now as a club is not the fault of Jonathan Woodgate.”

As you'd imagine, Gibson's comments have attracted quite the response from the Middlesbrough fans.
