Blackburn Rovers will be looking for a swift return to form in the second half of the season, as they aim to secure a place in the Championship play-off places in the coming months.

A run of four league games without a win has seen Tony Mowbray's slip to 13th in the Championship table, although they are still just four points adrift of the top six, meaning promotion is not yet fully out of the question for the Lancashire club.

They may however, have to strengthen their squad in the January window if they are to make that happen, with the season-ending injury suffered by top scorer Bradley Dack just before Christmas hitting the club particularly hard.

Perhaps not surprisingly therefore, there have been plenty of rumours of both incomings and outgoings at Ewood Park over the next few weeks.

Here, we take a look at just how Blackburn's transfer window could play out, if those reports are to be believed.

In: Jordan Jones

In the aftermath of Dack's injury, Rovers' attack has looked much less dangerous than it did before the loss of its talisman, meaning a new attacker may be required in this window.

One potential option to fill that role is Rangers' Jordan Jones, with reports from the Daily Record claiming that Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray is a fan of the winger, and could look to sign him on loan this month.

Jones has made just ten appearances for Rangers since joining from Kilmarnock this summer, but is also thought to be attracting attention from Rovers' Championship rivals Middlesbrough and Stoke City.

In: Scott McKenna

Defence is another area Rovers are likely to look to strengthen in this month, with injury problems once again rearing their head in that particular position this season.

One name who is apparently catching the attention of Rovers is Aberdeen centre back Scott McKenna, with reports from the Daily Mail claiming the Lancashire club are one of several taking an interest in the 23-year-old.

Aberdeen's reported £6million asking price means this would be expensive for Rovers, although interest from local rivals Burnley, as well as fellow second-tier sides Bristol City and Huddersfield, means this would certainly be a coup for Mowbray's men.

In: Conor Ogilvie

McKenna isn't the only defender to be linked with Blackburn this month, with reports from Football Insider recently claiming that the club are interested in Gillingham's Connor Ogilvie.

The 23-year-old only made his move to Gills permanent this summer, having spent the last two season on loan with the League One side from Tottenham, making a total of 109 appearances in all competitions for the club.

It is thought that the versatility of Ogilvie - who can play at left-back or centre back - has attracted Rovers to the defender, although is a suggestion that Blackburn are not alone with their interest in the former Spurs man, meaning this could prove to be one to watch.

Out: Corry Evans

One Blackburn man who could be receiving interest from elsewhere, is midfielder Corry Evans.

According to recent reports from Football Insider, Championship strugglers Stoke City are considering a potential move for the 29-year-old, which would reunite him with his manager at international level for Northern Ireland - Michael O'Neill.

Evans does however have 18 months remaining on his contract at Ewood Park, and having become a more regular feature in the side as the season has gone - he's now just one appearance away from 200 for the club - it is hard to see Blackburn being willing to let him go easily, especially to a rival in this division.

Out: Richie Smallwood

Another centre midfielder who could find his future at the club up in the air this month is Richie Smallwood.

An ever-present during his debut campaign with the club as Blackburn won promotion from League One at the first time of asking, Smallwood has slowly seen his opportunities reduce since the club's return to the Championship, with his only two appearances for Rovers this season coming in the Carabao Cup back in August.

Smallwood's contract at Ewood Park is set to expire at the end of this season, with Mowbray recently hinting at attention from elsewhere by claiming the 29-year-old could have a decision to make on his future this month, amid expected interest from sides in League One.
