Rotherham United are lining up a loan move for Michael McGovern, according to Press Association Sport reported via The Eastern Daily Press.

Norwich City goalkeeper Michael McGovern is reportedly considered to be surplus to requirements at Norwich City and will be let go this summer.

The Northern Ireland international joined the Canaries on a free last summer after impressing with a string of top notch performances at Euro 2016.

The former Hamilton stopper started the season as Norwich’s number one but was replaced by John Ruddy after a number of error-clad displays.

The 32-year-old kept just three clean sheets in his 22 outings for Norwich and will be allowed to leave in the summer despite Ruddy getting released.

Goalkeeper Declan Rudd has signed a new deal with the Canaries and they are expected to sign another ‘keeper if McGovern can be offloaded.

Rotherham want to snap up the former Hamilton man on loan but Norwich would need to partly subsidise his wages.
