Plymouth Argyle are being linked with a move for Cardiff City striker Rickie Lambert, according to Devon Live.

Rickie Lambert has told that he is not wanted by Cardiff City for next season and he is searching for a new club.

And now the veteran striker has reportedly been spotted in the city of Plymouth, further fuelling rumours of a move to Home Park.

Plymouth Argyle recently won promotion from the fourth tier of English football via the automatic spots and will compete in League One next year.

They could be about to move for Rickie Lambert as a marquee signing to bolster their squad.

With one year left on his contract with Cardiff City, it may take a fee to drag the former Southampton star away from the Welsh club but Neil Warnock has openly expressed his stance on Lambert's future.

The 35-year-old would bring plenty of experience to Plymouth if he did join.

During his career, Rickie Lambert has represented Blackpool, Macclesfield Town, Stockport County, Rochdale, Bristol Rovers, Southampton, Liverpool, West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City.

The 11-cap England international is now searching for a new club and he may have to drop into the third tier if there are no Championship clubs willing to take a chance on him.

Plymouth Argyle could make a swoop, according to this latest report, after whispers of a possible move.
