According to a report by The Telegraph and Argus, Scunthorpe United have submitted a bid for Bradford City’s Tony McMahon.
Bradford City wish to keep McMahon and are likely to hold firm on this bid.
The Telegraph and Argus believe that Bradford City will not entertain Scunthorpe’s bid for the mean time.
Scunthorpe United and Bradford City are both currently embroiled in their respective promotion bids.
Both sides currently sit in the play-off zone going into the new year.
Scunthorpe are fourth – five points off the automatic promotion spots – while Bradford trail the Iron by a point in fifth place.
Tony McMahon predominantly features at right back although the versatile 31-year-old, who was a summer target for Bolton Wanderers, is also competent in midfield.
The experienced former England youth international has played for Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Blackpool among others in his lengthy career.
The Bantams are clearly keen to keep him as they continue their charge towards promotion.
Stuart McCall is unlikely to want to sell to a promotion rival such as Scunthorpe.
Tony McMahon has been a key figure in recent years for Bradford as they come keep coming close to winning promotion back to the Championship.
McCall sees McMahon as a key part of his project at Valley Parade and is unlikely to entertain an offer from Scunthorpe unless it is too good to refuse.
