Chris Coleman is planning for life in League One after Sunderland’s relegation from the Sky Bet Championship was confirmed last weekend.

A 2-1 defeat to Burton Albion at the Stadium of Light dealt Sunderland relegation in the cruellest way, with the Black Cats throwing away a winning position.

Back-to-back relegations are likely to hit Sunderland hard, and Coleman will be beginning to turn his attention to what will be a huge summer at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland’s underperforming squad is likely to be ripped apart, with Coleman the man seemingly set to rebuild it ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

One area where Sunderland have been let down this season is in attack, with not one of the club’s strikers taking the goalscoring burden on during the second-half of the campaign.

With that in mind, we take a look at THREE Championship strikers Sunderland could look to take on-loan in the summer…

Antonsson has been on-loan at Blackburn Rovers this season, impressing at Ewood Park and helping Tony Mowbray’s side to promotion.

The Swede will return to Leeds United in the summer and it remains to be seen if he gets another chance at Elland Road.

If another loan move is on the cards, Sunderland should take a look at the Leeds forward.

Brereton’s first full season at Nottingham Forest hasn’t been the most prolific, with the young striker still finding his feet with the senior team at the City Ground.

Depending on who Forest sign in the summer to lead their line, Brereton could be available on-loan.

A move to League One and the chance of regular football in the No.9 role could appeal to all parties.

Fletcher has spent the second-half of the season on-loan at the Stadium of Light from Middlesbrough, without having too much of an impact.

However, Fletcher’s best football came in League One on-loan with Barnsley.

Sunderland pursuing another loan deal for the 22-year-old in the summer could be a good move.

After playing a part in their relegation, Fletcher could be the man to fire Sunderland back to the Championship if he can replicate the form he previously showed in the third-tier.
