Many Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been suggesting that the Owls could have made a mistake in the January transfer window with the signing of Connor Wickham.

Wickham arrived at Hillsborough on loan for the rest of the season from Premier League Crystal Palace, with the Owls hoping he could make a similar impact to the one he made during a loan spell with the club in the 2013/14 season, which saw him establish himself as a key player and register eight goals in 11 league appearances.

However, Wickham has walked into a slightly different environment around Hillsborough this season though, with the Owls in the midst of a poor run of form, which has seen them only manage to win one of their last 12 matches in all competitions and has seen supporters continue to grow more and more restless.

It was therefore always going to be a big ask for Wickham to come into the side and make an immediate impact in the final third, with the striker also lacking in match fitness, having barely featured for Crystal Palace throughout the fist half of the campaign.

That has seen the forward brought in and out of the starting line-up by Monk, with the forward so far yet to score in seven Championship appearances for the Owls – and he has looked like a player devoid of any real confidence and belief that he can make a difference in the final third.

Here then, we take a look at what Sheffield Wednesday supporters have made of Wickham’s performances so far for the Owls on social media…
