Charlton Athletic have released a fresh statement which confirms their support of chairman Matt Southall following strong accusations levelled by majority shareholder Tahnoon Nimer.

Nimer announced earlier this week that he would be pulling out from his backing of the club due to Southall's alleged misuse of funds, and Charlton then released a statement confirming they had regrettably accepted Nimer's resignation.

However, Nimer declared that he would in fact remain as the club's majority shareholder while holding back his investment until Southall is removed as chairman, with this public dispute having cast much uncertainty over the club's immediate future.

Charlton have now issued a fresh statement which backs Southall despite Nimer's controversial allegations, with the club's latest comments also reiterating how Nimer's failure to provide funds led to the club being placed under transfer embargo last window.
