Leeds United are still waiting to find out the full extent of Caleb Ekuban's injury after the striker was forced off in the first-half during the win over QPR at the weekend.

The Ghanaian left the ground on crutches and wearing a protective boot, with the initial fears he had once again broken his foot.

Ekuban missed three months of the season after he was forced to have surgery to pin a broken bone in his foot after his debut at Sunderland back in August.

And, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the striker is set to undergo further scans in the next 24 hours as Leeds look to see if he has suffered the same injury.

Journalist Phil Hay revealed on Saturday that Thomas Christiansen fears the worst, stating; "I’m not a doctor, I cannot say for sure, but it looks like it could be the same (injury)."

Any extended absence for Ekuban could see Leeds prioritise signing a striker in the upcoming window, although they will be boosted by the expected return of Pierre-Michel Lasogga for the game against Norwich on Saturday.

The Verdict

Leeds seem prepared for the worst with news regarding Ekuban's injury and it would be a massive blow for the team and the player personally.

Of course, they will have their fingers crossed that he hasn't broken his foot again, but if he has then a striker has to be firmly on the radar in January.

Whilst he didn't score, Ekuban brough more mobility and pace to the Leeds frontline and his performances helped the team secure some very important wins so he will be missed.
