Queens Park Rangers are expected to complete the signing of Southend forward Charlie Kelman before Friday's domestic deadline passes.

It's no secret that the R's are keen on the 18-year-old and they returned with a second offer for the forward last week after an initial bid was turned down by the Shrimpers.

Even though the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement, it appears as though progress has been made as the Echo revealed that Kelman is expected to be a QPR player by 5pm on Friday.

The teenager has established himself as one of the brightest talents in the Football League following his breakthrough with Southend, where he scored five goals in 18 games as the team were relegated last season.

With all the transfer speculation building, Kelman has not been involved in the match day squad for the past three games and he has seemingly now already played his last game for the club as he prepares to link up with Mark Warburton's Championship side.

If it all goes through, Kelman could be involved for the R's clash at Bournemouth on Saturday.

The verdict

It seems as though QPR have finally made a breakthrough with this transfer and that will be a big relief to Warburton and the recruitment team.

That's because Kelman is a huge talent and has the potential to be a key player at the club for the years to come.

He may have to be patient at first and fans will have to give him time to settle and adapt to this level of football but it could turn out to be a shrewd addition long-term.
