Dean Smith will not look to bring in a replacement for Tammy Abraham should the striker return to parent club Chelsea in this window.

The 21-year-old has been outstanding for the West Midlands side this season, scoring 16 goals in just 20 Championship games.

However, that form has seen several top-flight sides show an interest in Abraham, with Wolves thought to be lining up a big-money move for the striker.

Chelsea have an option to recall Abraham if they then wanted to sell him on and that will be a major concern to Villa.

Yet, the BBC claim that even if he does leave Villa Park this month, manager Smith is ready to go with the forwards currently at the club.

Jonathan Kodjia has been used out wide for the majority of this season but he would be one option for Smith, whilst Scott Hogan could also benefit from Abraham's departure.

The Irishman secured a big-money move to Villa after playing well under Smith at Brentford but he has been unable to replicate that at his new club.

The Verdict

Losing Abraham would be a massive blow for Villa as he is clearly one of the best strikers in the Championship and has a remarkable record this season.

Replacing those goals would be extremely tough and fans may be concerned that the club feel Hogan and Kodjia can step up.

Whilst they're both good players, the reality is they haven's shown enough to suggest they can get anywhere near Abraham's level and that should be a worry.
