Sunderland are back in action on Tuesday evening as they travel to take on Shrewsbury Town.

The Black Cats are in the middle of a strong run of form that has seen them fall to just one defeat since early December.

However Lee Johnson's side will be hoping to get back to winning ways following a minor setback against MK Dons on Saturday.

Despite beating Russell Martin's side in the Papa John's Trophy last week the Wearsiders were held to a surprise 2-2 draw against the Dons over the weekend - a result that the club will be keen to bounce back from.

The Shrews are currently sitting in 17th position in the table meaning that Sunderland will be seen as favourites, however they'll need to be firing on all cylinders if they're to get a positive results.

Here's the latest team news and predicted line-up ahead of the clash.

Sunderland could be without Tom Flanagan, Carl Winchester and Callum McFadzean for the Shrewsbury clash after all three missed the weekend's draw with MK Dons.

As a result Lee Johnson may have to limit the changes that he makes for this one.

The back line could be unchanged from Saturday with Lee Burge in goal and Max Power, Bailey Wright, Jordan Willis and Jake Vokins contenders to play in defence.

Johnson has plenty of options in midfield but could shuffle the pack with Josh Scowen, Jack Diamond and Jordan Jones all genuine contenders to come back into the starting XI around club captain Grant Leadbitter.

Ross Stewart is on the way back to fitness and could feature this weekend, but for now it's likely that Aiden O'Brien and the club's in-form striker Charlie Wyke will lead the line.
