The midfield man secured a loan move from Wigan earlier today, which is likely to become a permanent deal in January after the two clubs failed to come to an agreement before the 5pm deadline last night.

He is a fine addition for Jack Ross, having experienced two promotions in the past three years from the third-tier with the Latics.

And, he made it clear that he's targeting another triumph from League One this season when speaking to the Sunderland Echo.

"I’ve won the league two out of the last three years, I know what it takes. I’ve come here to do it again and help this club get back into the Championship."

Power also added that fellow new boy and former teammate Reece James sold the club to him.

"I’ve been in contact with Reece James, he told me how good of a club it is, that the facilities are second to none. I think Sunderland is a Premier League club, the fanbase, the facilities, the Stadium, everything is there."

The Verdict

This is a great signing for Sunderland as Power has proven himself over the years to be a top player at that level.

As he states, he will be bringing a winning mentality to the club and those past experiences could be vital in what will be a demanding season.

Now, it's about showing the fans and the manager what he can do and winning a place in the team.
