Peterborough are close to signing Matt Godden from Stevenage.

According to Alan Nixon, the 26-year-old is on the verge of joining Posh as Steve Evans starts his transfer business early in order to replace Jack Marriott, who Nixon says is likely to leave.

This is good news for Sheffield Wednesday fans because they are heavily interested in Marriott, but they will have competition from other Championship clubs.

Jos Luhukay will be aiming to make his mark on this team because Joey Pelupessy is the only player he has brought into the club so far and the Owls will be aiming to finish in the play-offs after a disappointing season caused by a severe injury crisis.

The Verdict

Marriott would be an exciting addition to Jos Luhukay's forward options because his first season with Peterborough has been a huge success even though he had to move up divisions due to joining from Luton. Therefore, it's likely that he could do the same again if he moved up to the Championship.

Wednesday are already strong in that area with Gary Hooper, Atdhe Nuhiu, Lucas Joao and Jordan Rhodes competing for positions, so Luhukay would have a plethora of options to choose from. However, at least one of them is possibly likely to leave with Rhodes the favourite due to his struggles.
