Stat guru, Goodbrand Stats (@StatsChristian), has revealed the incredible record Chris Wilder has across all competitions since his arrival at Sheffield United ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

Wilder has overseen 70 games across all competitions, recording 44 victories, which leaves him with a 66% win rate. The 50-year-old has suffered defeat on just 15 occasions during his time with the Blades, who he has guided out of League One into the Sky Bet Championship, where they are currently excelling.

Sheffield United’s 44th victory under Wilder came on Saturday afternoon against Hull City, where four Leon Clarke goals fired the Blades to a 4-1 victory, despite finding themselves behind at Bramall Lane. Clarke’s heroics ensured the Blades returned to winning ways following a midweek defeat to Queens Park Rangers and moved Wilder’s side back into the automatic promotion places.

The Blades head into next weekend’s international break in second, trailing league leaders, Wolverhampton Wanderers, by just two points. Following the international break, Wilder’s side are back on the road, travelling to Burton Albion, before returning to Bramall Lane for back-to-back home fixtures against Fulham and Birmingham City.

The Verdict

Wilder is establishing himself as one of the best managers outside the top-flight, as his Sheffield United side continue to thrive under his management.

Sheffield United’s win percentage under Wilder is exceptional. The Blades have a winning mentality that Wilder has helped to implant, and with the 50-year-old in the dugout, there is hope that back-to-back promotions could be on the cards.
