Leeds United stat guru, Chris Taylor (@LUFCDATA), has revealed some of the outstanding numbers behind Samuel Saiz’s fantastic start to life at Elland Road in the Sky Bet Championship.

Saiz has been directly involved with 10 goals during his opening 13 appearances in English football, bagging eight goals and two assists, as Leeds continue to excel in the Championship and progress in the Carabao Cup.

From those eight goals, Saiz has scored one hat-trick, which came in the first-round of the Carabao Cup, during Leeds’ 4-1 victory over Port Vale. Another of the 26-year-old’s goals came in the Carabao Cup, whilst the other four have all come in the Championship.

Saiz, who cost Leeds a reported £3m over the summer, was influential in the club’s most recent Championship fixture, helping Thomas Christiansen’s side bounce back from a disappointing run of form to beat Bristol City 3-0 at Ashton Gate.

The attacking midfielder scored an early brace for Leeds, who cruised to victory in Bristol, helping them move back to fourth in the Championship table. Christiansen’s side are back in action this evening, travelling to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City in the fourth-round of the Carabao Cup.

The Verdict

This certainly highlights how important Saiz has been to Leeds this season, with the creative forward behind everything that the Whites have done well so far this season in the league and cup.

Without Saiz at his best, it is hard to imagine Leeds challenging for promotion, but with him at his best, they have every chance.

It would be a surprise to see Saiz risked in the Carabao Cup this evening, with Leeds facing two difficult Championship fixtures next week.
