Aston Villa’s push for promotion in the Sky Bet Championship is looking good, with Steve Bruce’s side looking more and more capable of mounting a serious challenge on the top-two in the coming weeks.

Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Burton Albion was a sixth consecutive triumph in the Championship – a run of form that has really helped Villa tighten their grip on a place in the promotion race.

A key performer over that particular run has been Robert Snodgrass, with whoscored.com highlighting some of the impressive numbers behind the midfielder’s form in the last eight fixtures.

Snodgrass, 30, has scored four goals and added four further assists in his last eight appearances, picking up three separate Man of the Match awards and generally proving to be the difference for Bruce’s side.

The on-loan West Ham United midfielder’s form has picked up in recent weeks, with his contribution this season beginning to look more and more impressive.

So far this season, Snodgrass has scored seven goals in his 25 appearances, adding a further eight assists for Bruce’s side.

Villa are back in action on Sunday, when they face Birmingham City in the Second City derby.

The Verdict

Snodgrass is in excellent form this season, and particularly lately, when he has been key to Villa’s surge into top-two contention.

Villa look like they could be breaking into the top-two in the coming weeks, with Bruce’s side the form team in the division.

If Villa, and Snodgrass in particular, can keep up this level of form, they could be gracing the Premier League again next season.
