It may well be the Championship that we're talking about but sometimes even the second tier throws up surprises that no-one can see coming.

In a league where anyone can beat anyone, QPR's win over Aston Villa has still proven one of the most surprising shocks of recent times in the league after Villa had just beaten Wolves 4-1 at the weekend.

Indeed, when you also consider that the R's are effectively on their holidays with them having little to play for now this season, combined with their away form this year, last night provided a result that very few would have seen coming.

And that factor only grows when you consider this pretty unbelievable stat from Stat Attack on Twitter that the London club hadn't won at B6 for nearly three decades before last night:

This, then, was a shock to say the least but it underlined what QPR can do when they are at it and fans will only be wishing they'd done more of this earlier this season.

The Verdict

This was a shock, we don't need to keep saying that.

Now it'll be interesting to see how Villa respond and, for the away side, whether they can build some momentum for what they hope will be a more memorable campaign next year.
