The owners of PSG are said to be interested in taking over a Championship club according to reports from France via The Telegraph.

Qatar Sports Investments have been in charge of the French giants since 2011 and they certainly haven't been shy in splashing the cash.

The likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have both been signed for world-record fees and have taken PSG into one of the biggest clubs in European football.

But the owners are said to be exploring their options to build their portfolio, and a move to England is seemingly on the cards.

Given that FIFA rules state that the same owners can't be involved in two clubs that are involved in either the Champions League or the Europa League, a Championship club could be the likely destination for the wealthy owners.

Reports in France (via The Telegraph) have claimed that the likes of Aston Villa, QPR and Nottingham Forest are some of the most likely clubs that could be targeted.

They'll be hoping to have similar success to what Wolves have had since they were taken over, with the newly-promoted side winning promotion from the Championship last season.

It remains to be seen as to which club they've got their eye on, but it's sure to be an exciting summer ahead for all of the clubs being rumoured to have potential investment in the future.

The Verdict:

This is an exciting update for the clubs involved.

It's evident that the owners of PSG have got the funds available to them to completely transform a club and they could well do that in the Championship.

Each club could certainly benefit from the investment, and would certainly have the stature to make the step back up into the top-flight.
