Paul Heckingbottom will have been pleased with Leeds United’s performance against Derby County in the Sky Bet Championship last night, with the Whites picking up a deserved point at Pride Park.

The Whites twice led against the automatic promotion-chasing Rams, with Pierre Michel Lasogga and Ezgjan Alioski getting the goals for Heckingbottom’s side.

However, goals from Andreas Weimann and Kasey Palmer twice hauled Derby level, and made sure that Leeds’ wait for a victory in 2018 would go on for at least another couple of days.

There was a third consecutive start for Stuart Dallas, who has been promoted back into Leeds’ starting XI under Heckingbottom, after a frustrating stint on the sidelines under Thomas Christiansen.

Chris Taylor (@LUFCDATA) has taken a look at Dallas’ performance at Derby, with the right-winger winning an impressive seven tackles during the contest, which was more than any other player on the pitch from either side.

The 26-year-old also provided a first-half assist for Lasogga, with his looping cross headed home by the German striker to put Leeds into the lead.

Dallas will be looking for a fourth consecutive start this weekend, when Leeds welcome Brentford to Elland Road.

The Verdict

Dallas has been superb since his recall to the starting XI, with the Northern Irishman clearly in Heckingbottom’s thought process going forward.

Heckingbottom has had faith in Dallas in a number of positions, and his performance at Derby last night more than justified his selection.

The Whites look a far better outfit with Dallas balancing the midfield.
