Stat guru, Goodbrand Stats (@StatsChristian), has revealed the magnificent start Tyler Walker has made to his Nottingham Forest career, by comparing it to his Dad and club legend, Des Walker.

Walker has made 30 appearances for Forest’s first-team, but the 21-year-old’s impact in Saturday’s victory over Queens Park Rangers was perhaps the highlight of that time with the first-team. Walker scored twice for Mark Warburton’s side against QPR, bettering the goal tally of his Dad for Forest in just 90 minutes of football.

Des Walker had two spells with Forest, between 1983 – 1992 and then 2002 – 2005, where he made a combined total of 408 appearances for the Reds, scoring once. The bulk of the 51-year-old’s appearances came in defence for Forest, unlike his son, who has featured in a much more advanced role during his time with Forest’s first-team.

Walker’s two goals for Forest on Saturday took his tally for the club to five, and helped Warburton’s side pick up a vital three points against QPR thanks to a 4-0 victory.

The 21-year-old’s brace came either side of goals from Kieran Dowell and Barrie McKay, as the Reds moved up to ninth in the Championship table.

The Verdict

It is hard to compare Walker senior with Walker junior, as the two are completely different players, who bring much different qualities to a football team.

However, Tyler Walker’s goal tally from his limited appearances is still impressive, and his performance against QPR indicates that he has a big future ahead.
