According to The Sunderland Echo, Paolo Montero will not be the next manager of Sunderland.

The Black Cats sacked Simon Grayson a couple of weeks ago but, despite a number of links with new managers, they are seemingly no closer to bringing in a new face.

Plenty of names have been linked, though, with Montero one of the more left-field names to come out of the woodwork in recent days.

A former player for Juventus and Uruguay, Montero has a decent playing CV but in terms of being a manager he is yet to make a big splash in Europe, with him currently at Rosario Central.

Indeed, such a move, though you'd have to see what happened, would perhaps not get many Sunderland fans onside and so they'll be fairly happy such a move is not going to come off.

The Black Cats' fans are crying out for a manager with plenty of experience in the Championship with the likes of Aitor Karanka being named and so it remains to be seen if the club goes after him or someone else.

The Verdict

Sunderland have had a bad time of things once again this season and they need to get this managerial issue sorted as quickly as possible.

It's dragging on, though, and so it remains to be seen who is going to come into the club.
