Leeds United’s slump over September and October left the club’s supporters wondering if their play-off hopes were realistic, however, Thomas Christiansen has overseen a major upturn in results over recent weeks.

The Whites have picked up 10 points from a possible 15 following November’s international break, with Saturday’s 3-1 triumph over Queens Park Rangers moving Leeds back up into seventh.

Christiansen had Kemar Roofe to thank for Saturday’s three points, with the 24-year-old scoring his second hat-trick of the season and first in the Sky Bet Championship.

Roofe netted a hat-trick in the Carabao Cup clash with Newport County earlier this season, but Saturday’s feat puts him in good company in the club’s history post-2004.

Stat guru, Chris Taylor (@LUFCDATA), has revealed that since Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League in 2004, seven different players have scored hat-tricks for Leeds across all competitions, with just six managing the feat in the league.

Brian Deane, Rob Hulse, Jermaine Beckford, Jonny Howson, Luciano Becchio and Ross McCormack have scored hat-tricks in the league, whilst Samuel Saiz is the seventh player post-2004 to score three goals in a game.

Roofe’s goals on Saturday took his tally for the season to nine across all competitions and six in the Championship.

The Verdict

Roofe is in good company on this particular reveal, with some big names from the club’s recent history on that list.

The likes of Beckford and Becchio were popular figures at Elland Road, and for Roofe to be mentioned in similar standing to them is good for him personally at this time of his career.

Leeds’ supporters will be hoping the 24-year-old can build on Saturday’s performance.
